Are you being under paid for the job you now have?
Would you be making more working somewhere else. I have asked myself that a few times over my career, and I bet you have as well. Well theres a new Web site that reveals salaries from hundreds of major employers. The site also posts anonymous reviews written by current and past workers. There is a catch though. While access to the site is free, in order to see the juciest info, users have to post their own salaries and feelings about their bosses. Check it out at

Traffic Cameras

The new trafffic cameras in New Orleans set up to catch red light runners, can also catch speeders. City officials say the system works with automatic sensors that will detect speeders and send them a citation in the mail. Fines range from $40.00 to $200.00 plus a fee. The City doesn't say how many miles over the speed limit you have to go before a ticket is issued. Technically they could cite you for speeding if you're going 1 mile over the speed limit, and I certainly don't think that's fair.

I think most people agree that speeding is a problem the City needs to address, but lets be honest. Is 5 miles over the speed limit a serious safety hazard? And what about the red lights? We've all seen traffic lights that malfunction. What do we do if one is stuck on red? Sit there until a repair crew comes along and fixes it, or get a ticket for going through the light safely? Are the cameras really for safety or is it revenue for the City?

Cell Phone & Text Message Ban

Yet another bill to ban cell phone usage comes up for a vote this year. The bill would impose a fine up to 250-dollars for using any hand-held communication device while behind the wheel. The bill especially goes after people who text while driving. I agree that it is a distraction talking on a cell phone while driving and especially texting, but how are we going to enforce all these new laws? I can see how a police officer can catch someone talking on a cell phone, but how in the heck can they know whether or not someone is texting? How do they know that person is not reading, or reaching down to get cosmetic's material for makeup? And what about all the other distractions? Eating, reading, watching television, changing out cd's, putting on make-up and the list goes on. Where are the laws for those distractions?

The point is there are already numerous laws on the books that are not being enforced, like the illegal tinted windows in vehicles. When's the last time you saw an officer pull someone over for that? How about running a red light? I used to see officers all the time completely ignore drivers that blatantly run red lights. Maybe that's why we have the new red light camera's. There are too many more important things our elected officials could be concentrating on. Hey I have a great idea, why not make a law to enforce all the laws we now have on the books.

Entertainment Weekly Magazine's top 10 money makers for the Summer.

1.  Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (355.9 million)
After all these years, will audiences be interested in some old guy in a fedora?

2.  The Chronicles Of Narnia:Prince Caspian (310.8 million)
The first movie made 292-million.

3.  Hancock (284.4 million)
Will Smith as a Superhero.

4.  Wall-E (280.3-million)
A Pixar film about a French rat.

5.  Iron Man (262.7-million)
He's no Spider Man, but he does has the distinction of being the first big blockbuster released, and it's the first of a possible sequel.

6. The Dark Knight (255-million)
The last Batman movie made 205-million, and this one is supposed to top that one on the strength of Heath Ledger's performace as the Joker, and the actor's unfortunate death after making the movie.

7. King Fu Panda (224.6 million)
Never underestimate the kid-pleasing power of cute animals with attitude.

8.  The Mummy:Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor (176.5-million)
The last one made more than 200-million, but it's been seven years, and even with Brendan Fraiser back, this one will have a tougher time selling tickets.

9.  The Incredible Hulk (147.2 million)
The last one made 132-million, and this should be an improvement.

10. Tropic Thunder (146.2-million)
It's got a killer Tom Cruise cameo and will be summer's top comedy, but an R rating will limit it's earning potential.

If you read my bio you'll know that I love bowling. Well this season I achieved something I never thought I would achieve in my lifetime of the sport.  I bowled an 800 series (814), and a 300 perfect game in the same season. The 300 is my third, but the 800 was a first for me as well as the one I cherish the most. And if you are a bowler you know how hard it is to bowl an 800. Needless to say it took me about 20 years to bowl my first 300, and another 13 years to bowl an 800, which gives you an idea of how old I am. Maybe that old saying is true, that you really do get better with age.

Johnny Scott's Bio

Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, I've been on the airwaves of New Orleans since 1983, and have been hosting mornings on Magic 101.9 for over 14 Years.  I have wanted to live and work in New Orleans since I got my first Radio job over 30 years ago.  The city has a mystic way of captivating you, and never letting you go.

I never thought that I would wind up in a career where all you do is talk to people, play great music and get paid for it!   Life is wonderful.  I enjoy getting up every morning at 4:00am and going on the air to provide a stress free drive to work for my listeners.  As far as hobbies go, it’s Bowling, Bowling and more Bowling.  You’ll find me at a bowling establishment somewhere on any given day or night.  When I’m not on the lanes, I’m at home spending a quite evening with my family, and a little Madden Football mixed in somewhere in between.

Hurricane Katrina destroyed our homes, but not our spirit.  It’s going to take some time, but I truly believe we will rebuild New Orleans.  I'm proud to be joining you in that effort!

Thanks again for making me a part of your morning!  I'd love to hear from you, drop me an e-mail...here's my address.
